Our fundamental goal and belief is that pets and pet ownership bring joy and benefits which should be accessible and available to all. For this reason, Mars has been a global leader in encouraging and supporting the responsible ownership of pets in a variety of ways around the world.

We believe that ...

  • pets, and pet ownership, are good for people of all ages and circumstances.
  • pets can play an integral part in a harmonious community.
  • owners have a responsibility to their pet, and to the community within which the pet owner and pet live.

We support ...

  • school education programmes to teach children about responsible pet ownership and the proper behaviour towards pets, such as the Austrian programme Around the Dog.
  • initiatives to support pet shelters, such as the Austrian Pet Love Society, sponsored by WHISKAS® and PEDIGREE®.
  • research work all over the world to improve our understanding of the human-animal bond, and institutions like the IEMT in Austria, which conduct such research.
